Accomplishments this year include qualifying for Team USA and a trip to the world championships in Budapest in September, an overall win in my favorite tri in Wisconsin, an Age group win at the Vineman, a 3rd overall finish in Moraga, and a 9th over all finish at Treasure Island.
I had a bad illness over the summer which unfortunately was right before the Team USA qualifier but I still managed to finish 9th and qualify.
Two weeks ago I was hospitalized for a kidney issue. 5 days in the hospital didn't do much for the training. But this past Sunday I managed to run the Santa Cruz Sprint Duathlon and finish it. Both runs were a bit slow and easy, the bike was descent, and overall it was encouraging. I'm feeling like once I get the OK from the doctors I'll be right back into it. Maybe better than ever as my body feels fresh and well healed.
So the world championships are Sept 9-12 in Budapest, Hungary. I would race on the 11th. Prior to that my only race will be the UCSC XC challenge on the 21st of August. 5k. My goal for that one not knowing the course is to be under 20 minutes. If I can do that I'll definitely be on the fast track to recovery.
Hope to see you all out there.
